Pregnancy Update: 23 Weeks

I've been meaning to journal more about my pregnancy and for one reason or another have not gotten around to it. I even bought a paper journal and have not made the first entry. It doesn't dismiss the fact that I'm enjoying the journey and grateful for the little life growing inside me. He moves around all the time these days and it simply never gets old. How could I possibly not love being kicked all day by these little toes?

18 Week Ultrasound

I actually started feeling the baby move very early. And, Michael even felt him by 16 weeks. Now at 23 weeks, I get spoiled, knowing on a regular basis he is alive and well. I've also managed to keep my weight in check, although I did let some compliments go to my head. Everyone kept telling me "You don't even look pregnant!", and till that point I had only gained about ten pounds. So I used it as an excuse to over indulge and gained three pounds in the past week alone. For the first time I now feel like  a pregnant fat girl. No more Mexican followed by pizza chased by do-nuts. Check. (I lie. King Cake for breakfast).

Half way there!

We now have our registries set up online at Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby (a Bed Bath and Beyond store). That was a learning experience, given I had no idea what a layette was. My friend, Leah, gave me the book, Baby Bargains, and it was my go-to guide for setting up my registries. I highly recommend it to any first time mom's out there. It gives excellent product reviews and is big on safety in front of anything else.

Meanwhile, Michael has traded his sporty car in for a family-friendly Tahoe that even accomodates Sam. And, he is schooling me on latching techniques for breast-feeding after studying some you tube videos. Although he let me paint the nursery, he has been helpful in his own special ways :)

My goal today is to paint the trim in the nursery. After all the painting is done we will be ready to decorate! Stay tuned for a nursery sneak peek!

I can't wait to see the nursery! I am glad you are enjoying your time. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed being pregnant until Lydia was a few weeks old. So, enjoy it!
